Sony has enlisted the help of Blackpink member and actor Lisa to help promote the PlayStation 5. She stars in a new promotional video set to her own song "Lifestyle," and the footage shows Lisa holding a PS5 controller as video from popular Sony games like Helldivers II, Marathon, and Astro Bot flash on the screen.
It's an eye-catching video and a big get for Sony, as Lisa and Blackpink are very popular. She also recently made her acting debut in the newest season of HBO's The White Lotus, playing Mook.
Lisa is just the latest celebrity that Sony has partnered with to help promote the PlayStation brand, as the company previously worked with basketball superstar LeBron James for a variety of accessories designed by the man himself. This was part of the PlayStation Playmakers program, which sees PlayStation team up with famous people for a variety of initiatives.
Others have included actor and comedian King Bach, BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester, WNBA star NaLyssa Smith, NFL players Ja'Marr Chase and CeeDee Lamb, and soccer stars Lisa Zimouche and Romelu Lukaku.
"We're excited to partner with these Playmakers on an ongoing basis to celebrate their passion for gaming and PlayStation, provide early looks and behind-the-scenes access, and offer unique experiences for fans," Sony's Eric Lempel said. "The Playmakers are a dynamic talent network that will continue to evolve and grow; they're part of our journey to inspire gaming fans and prove the power of play."
The PS5 has been a big success for Sony, having sold close to 80 million units thus far, tracking in line with the PS4 despite initial struggles at launch due to COVID and supply-chain issues. The PS6 is coming up next, but it's still early days and we don't know much about the system yet.
Sony's latest big PS5-exclusive is Death Stranding 2: On the Beach from Hideo Kojima, and it's out now. Other exclusives coming up include Ghost of Yotei in October and Saros in 2026.
The way to survive in modern society is to be an ascetic. It is to retreat from society. There’s too much society everywhere you go…The only solution is turn it off.
